On Saturday, August 23, the Phildelphia Miles for Melanoma 5K event will take place at the Philadelphia Zoo with the site opening at 7:00 AM ET for check-in. Opening Ceremonies will begin at 8:00 AM ET. The 5K will begin at 8:30 AM ET with our Closing ceremonies to follow after all runners have returned starting at 9:30 AM ET.

We are thrilled to announce that Nicole Michalik, afternoon drive host on 925XTU, will be returning as our 2025 Phildelphia Miles for Melanoma event emcee! Make sure to join us for our opening ceremonies starting at 8:00 AM to see our emcee in action on event day!

• Complete the kids zoo activity packet located at the MRF information tent
• Local Sponsor, Fox Chase Cancer Center, will be hosting on-site and complimentary skin screenings on event day!

Please note this 5K course is not a certified 5K course but the MRF team will have an on-site timer to provide race results to all registered runners. The MRF team is not responsible for lost runners on the 5K course, and it is the responsibility of the runner to review the 5K course leading up to the event.

Miles for Melanoma is a rain or shine 5K event. The safety of our participants and attendees are our top priority and on-site MRF staff will make the call to delay an event start time or cancel an event-on-event day. This information will be communicated to all registered participants on event day via email.

Attendees will check in for the event and enterthe Zoo through the Main Entrance at the North Gate. The closest parking lots are the Tiger Parking Lot and the Philadelphia Zoo Parking Garage. More information on parking and rates can be found on the Zoo's website by clicking here.

All in-person attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the 5K event. The MRF team will provide information to the public regarding the venue’s recommended parking locations, if applicable.

Service animals are welcome at the Zoo. Emotional support animals, therapy animals and pets are not permitted. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, a service animal is defined as a dog or miniature pony that has been individually trained to do work or performs tasks for an invidivual with a disability. 

All service animals must remain on a standard leash at all times for the duration of your visit. Retractable leashes are prohibited and a standard leash will be provided by the Zoo if needed. Service animals must remain on the ground at all times; holding service animals in-hand or in strollers, wagons, backpacks, bags, etc is prohibited. Click here for more information.
