Support the MRF and Laney's Battle with Skin Cancer!
The cure for melanoma begins with US. Stay shady!
Laney's Story:
On December 24, 2024, I was diagnosed with cancer- stage IIIC melanoma. I was 28 years old.
14 rounds of immunotherapy and 3 surgeries later, I am proud to be declared no evidence of disease (NED), though we are still figuring out what to do about a spot that scans show deep in my left thigh. My care team is 50/50 on whether it's cancer.
Last year, 5 weeks out of my inguinal lymph node dissection, I walked my farthest route yet- all 3.1 miles of the Miles for Melanoma route.
This year, I am leaning into saying YES (and being a bit delusional), and refusing to let melanoma win. This year, on July 19, I am committed to running the Miles for Melanoma 5K, no matter how long it takes. I haven't run a 5K since surgery, and while I have been training, this will be my longest run post-surgery yet!
I am grateful to organizations like the Melanoma Research Foundation who work tirelessly to provide melanoma warriors with care and resources while supporting clinical trials and life-saving research, and proud to support the cause.
Please join me in supporting the Melanoma Research Foundation! And thank you for reading. :)
