Friends and Family,
As many of you know, my dad was the single most influential person in my life when it came to exercise. Unfortunately for many of you, he believed everyone should share that experience—whether you wanted to or not. From the legendary 4 a.m. wake‑ups on race day (only to get there 2 hours early!), to forcing us to run what he proudly called “bandits” because race fees were “ridiculous,” no one was safe. I still don’t understand how he could walk faster than I could run… and make it look effortless. I think he cheated!
And just when you thought the workout was over, there was yoga. What was supposed to be “relaxing” somehow turned into a full‑body challenge, complete with shaking legs and lots of encouragement to “breathe through it.” He believed flexibility mattered just as much as endurance—and he made sure we all learned that lesson.
Thanks to him (and possibly mild childhood trauma), I continue to participate in these races today. His voice is always in my head telling me to go faster, complain less, and “keep moving.” That drive is something he gave me, and it will always be part of who I am.
This year, I’ll be participating in The 2026 Miami Miles for Melanoma 5K, scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Zoo Miami. I’m asking you to consider donating—any amount—in support of finding a cure for melanoma. This cause means a great deal to me and my family, and every donation truly helps.
My dad was sarcastic, funny, full of life, and unapologetically grumpy— and we wouldn’t have had him any other way. Thank you, “APA”, for making exercise such a big part of your life and, in turn, of MINE (whether I wanted it or not).
We miss you every day, Dad.
LOVE YOU!
And thank you all for supporting this cause and honoring his memory.
