2025 San Diego Miles for Melanoma

Throwing Shade on Melanoma

Most of you know my story. Over the past 10 years, I’ve had three melanomas removed, along with more basal and squamous cell spots than I can count. Skin cancer has been a part of my life for a long time... and now, it’s become part of Beckett’s. He’s recently had several biopsies come back severely atypical, which has been scary — and honestly, a big wake-up call.

This fight is personal. I’ve also lost friends to melanoma recently, and it's only made me more motivated to do something. Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest-growing type of skin cancer — and we desperately need better treatments, better awareness, and ultimately a cure.

So, I’ve joined the fight and will be participating in the Melanoma Research Foundation 5k with a team called Throwin’ Shade on Melanoma (because if we don’t laugh, we’ll cry... and also, seriously, tryin' to stay in the shade). We’re raising money to support melanoma research, education, and support for families facing skin cancer.

I’ll be walking in the San Diego Miles for Melanoma 5K on Saturday, October 18th at De Anza Cove Park.

I’d love for you to be part of it. Walk, run, donate, or just come hang out — any way you show up means so much to me & so many others.
