Please support my fundraising efforts for the Melanoma Research Foundation!
October 2025 marks three years since my dad suffered a severe headache that led to the discovery of a brain bleed causing significant swelling. Five months later, after multiple MRIs, biopsies, tests, and agonizing waiting, we learned the cause: stage IV metastatic melanoma.
Thanks to incredible advancements in melanoma treatment, we were given nearly three more years with Dad-years filled with love, laughter, and resilience. But it wasn't nearly enough. On August 23, 2025, Dad passed away at home and we miss him so much.
Dad fought with all he had: swimming laps even with an undiagnosed brain bleed and midline shift, getting back in the pool just eight weeks after an ICU stay, recovering from brain surgery, enduring steroid-refractory pneumonitis, pushing through three different lines of treatment, and faced radiation necrosis in the end. His strength and determination will always stay with me.
I'll never forget the call from the pulmonologist with the pathology results while we were already in the hospital for a craniotomy to address a second brain bleed. Amid shock and fear, I found hope in the advancements in melanoma research- especially immunotherapy. This video during the early days gave me strength and hope: https://vimeo.com/338412027
But there is still so much more work to be done-especially for patients with brain metastases and complications like radiation necrosis. That's why I'm asking for your help.
In Steve's memory, please consider making a donation to support melanoma research and awareness. Every contribution helps accelerate discoveries, expand treatment options, and bring hope to families like ours. Together, we can fuel the progress that gave us more time together.
If you're able, please consider donating to support this cause!
