2025 LA Miles for Melanoma

Superman Stan

In February 2025, our beloved Stan was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma. Just two short months later, we lost him.

Anyone who knew Stan knows he was the most loving, hardworking, and selfless person. He lived with intention, focused on health, fitness, and family. He worked out regularly, ate well, and did everything he could to stay healthy. When he first started feeling back pain, he thought it was a pinched nerve, none of us could have imagined it was cancer that had already spread throughout his body.

From the moment of his diagnosis, Stan and our family moved quickly to explore treatment options and chemotherapy. But the melanoma had progressed too far. Despite his strength and our collective hope, there was nothing that could stop the disease. Stan passed away at home, surrounded by family, knowing how deeply he was loved and how many lives he had touched.

Cancer affects so many, and as Stans story shows, no matter how well you take care of yourself, sometimes it just is not enough. Thats why we are walking in Miles for Melanoma, to honor Stans legacy, to raise awareness, and to support the search for a cure so that the next person diagnosed has more time, more options, and more hope.

We miss him every day. We love him always.

If you are able, please consider donating in Stans memory. Your support helps fund life-saving research and brings us one step closer to a world without melanoma.

Below are some details regarding Melanoma:

Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.

Every step matters and every step counts. Significant advancement has been made in the past few years in improved detection, new drug treatments and better survival rates. This progress has been built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, as well as the existing foundation of melanoma research.

There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
