Marks Girls and Friends
The cure for melanoma begins with me.
My husband Mark first took me to Miles For Melanoma NYC. It was the inaugural event. There were not many people there but everyone present was committed to the cause. I ran the course and was exhilarated. It felt like I was doing something to really help him battle the disease he was diagnosed with literally ten days after our baby girl was born. Mark fought hard and lived an incredible 26 years, thanks to his doctors and the medical advances that have been made but there is so much left to do because Mark’s story is unusual. Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon.
My daughter and I have the most amazing family and friends who support this effort each year in honor of Mark. The event has grown so much over the years thanks to the hard work of the staff and all the incredible teams, sponsors, hosts and supporters.
I cherished every single day I had with my husband after we were given a terrible diagnosis. We were lucky and I plan to run this race every year to remember Mark and to pay tribute to the dedicated work of his doctors and nurses. Let’s do this!
