2025 Philadelphia Miles for Melanoma

Shelby's Engineers

To honor the late Shelby Keating Brown, our beloved coworker and friend, the Cell Engineering team at Century is fundraising for the Melanoma Research Foundation and participating in the Miles for Melanoma Walk in Philadelphia.

Shelby was an incredible scientist, mentor, and our dear friend. Without her, Century Therapeutics would not be where it is today. As the 5th employee of the company, Shelby had a hand in designing protocols, experimenting with products, training many of us and ultimately contributing to Century's CNTY-101 product, which is currently in clinical trials. Beyond her work in the lab, Shelby spearheaded our culture club and created an environment of joy alongside hard work. Her input was integral in creating the family atmosphere of the Century team.

Shelby's legacy lives on through the co-op program at Century, another one of her selfless contributions to science and the community. University students from the Philadelphia area are encouraged to work as coops/ interns at Century- many coming from Shelby's alma mater Drexel University. Alongside her contributions to the co-op program, Shelby encouraged colleagues to participate in First Hands, a local program which brings science to middle and high school students. Shelby always led a volunteer group and highlighted the importance of getting young students interested in careers in science.

Shelby is sorely missed, and her light continues to shine on our lives.
