The cure for melanoma begins with me

My name is Gina Maahs-Zurbey and my Melanoma story started March 2022 when I noticed a bump on my scalp that looked very concerning. From there it became the rollercoaster of a lifetime. I initially was diagnosed as stage 3 and unfortunately went to stage 4 May 2024. Over the past three years I’ve had:

• Countless CT, MRI and PET scans
• 7 painful surgeries
• 6 rounds of chemo
• 28 rounds of radiation 
• 29 rounds of immunotherapy
• About to start a clinical trial

There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
