Please support team David Alexopoulos efforts for the Melanoma Research Foundation!
The cure for melanoma begins with us.
Hello,
We are participating in our second 5k for Melanoma research in memory of David Alexopoulos. David was a great man, Navy veteran, avid Bruins fan, loving father, husband, brother and friend to all. Sadly, we lost David last year after a courageous battle against metastatic Melanoma.
It takes only one blistering sunburn, especially at a young age, to more than double a person’s chance of developing melanoma later in life.
Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S.
Melanoma is not just skin cancer. It can develop anywhere on the body – eyes, scalp, nails, feet, mouth, etc.
People of color are more likely to get melanoma in areas that don’t see the sun – like the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet, under the nails.
Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer, and we all want a cure to be found soon.
Every step matters and every step counts. Significant advancement has been made in the past few years in improved detection, new drug treatments and better survival rates. This progress has been built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, as well as the existing foundation of melanoma research.
There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
Thank you for the donation.
Sincerely,
Team David Alexopoulos
