2025 DC Miles for Melanoma

Sara Strong

Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support the fight against melanoma and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.

We will run or walk in memory of Sara Gantt Linder, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to so many. Sara passed away on April 1, 2025 following a courageous eight-month battle with stage IV mestastatic melanoma. Sara’s unwavering strength and determination were evident every day of her fight.

During her three-month stay at Johns Hopkins Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland, she welcomed countless visitors, reconnected with friends and family, and spent cherished hours with her mother decorating each new room she was moved into. Even in her final days, she insisted on expressing gratitude to the nurses and doctors who provided her with remarkable care—especially her oncologist, Dr. Warrier.

Sara lived life to the fullest—from her spirited childhood and days as a collegiate volleyball player to being the ultimate hostess with the mostest, and, most importantly, a devoted mother who always dreamed of having a little girl. She could often be found baking for the next gathering at her home while listening to country music, filling every space with her magnetic joy, passion, and energetic nature. To have been loved by Sara was a rare and wonderful gift that will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
