Please support my fundraising efforts for the Melanoma Research Foundation!
The cure for melanoma begins with me.
Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.
My journey with melanoma started back in 2021 when I was diagnosed with stage 1B melanoma after a trip to the dermatologist lead to a biopsy. A positive biopsy ultimately lead to a WLE (wide local excision) and a lymph node biopsy which came back normal. I thought I was done and all I would need to do is go to the dermatologist every 6 months to monitor future moles.
Unfortunately, in October of 2024, I found a lump in my armpit which I assumed was a swollen lymph node from illness - because let's be real, living with a baby in day car means we see a lot of colds in our house. My doctor did not take chances and had me go in for an ultrasound which lead to an ultrasound guided biopsy. My biopsy results showed that my melanoma was back and it was metastatic (meaning it had spread to a nearby part of the body - soft tissue in my armpit).
This disease does not discriminate and impacts far too many people. Let's find a cure so no one has to experience this terrible disease!
