The cure for melanoma begins with US.

Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure. Miles for Melanoma is an opportunity for us to come together to take action, help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation, and honor the too short life of our beloved Katie Morgan.

Every step matters and every step counts. Significant advancement has been made in the past few years in improved detection, new drug treatments, and better survival rates. This progress is built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, the existing foundation of melanoma research, and Katie's personal contributions to the science.

Five years prior to Katie’s stage IV diagnosis in 2021 she had two cancerous skin lesions surgically removed. The established testing protocol then and now is to biopsy adjacent lymph nodes for any spread of the cancer. A negative test result, which Katie received, usually results only in follow up surface examinations but no further body scans or lymph node biopsies. We plan to fund an Established Investigator Research grant in Katie's name focused on changing follow up care and surveillance protocols to prevent the metastatic spread that she experienced.

There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and futures.

Please step up and donate to Miles for Melanoma today.
