Team Logan

The cure for melanoma begins with me.

In memory of Logan Roeth. Gone too soon, forever held in our hearts.

Prior to her illness, Logan was a fervent learner. She loved learning new things and figuring out how things worked. She loved her family and friends endlessly. She was obsessed with her new niece Makenzie. She was fulfilled working in television in Los Angeles. She loved living with her dog, Paco, and her fiancée, Tessa.

Logan and Tessa began dating in 2007. After finishing high school in Fort Wayne and college in Ball State, we packed up and moved to Los Angeles in 2012. On December 5th, 2015, we got engaged at Disneyland and started planning for our Dream Wedding.

Less than a year after our engagement, (the same day we sent out our Save the Dates) on August 5th 2016, Logan was diagnosed with Metastatic Malignant Melanoma at the age of 25 after finding and removing a dark mole on her shoulder. By time she was diagnosed, there were already over 30 tumors in her liver, multiple other organs and bones. With doctors at City of Hope, Logan still decided to undergo new research immunotherapy. That immunotherapy was ultimately unsuccessful. Logan passed on November 1st, 2016, less than three months after her initial diagnosis and five months prior to our wedding date.

The loss of Logan has left a colossus hole not only in my life, but in the lives of so many others. A true testament to Logan's legacy are the multiple children who share her namesake, all across the country.

8 years after this devastating loss and Logan is still held dearly in so many hearts and memories. Thank you to everyone and anyone who has offered a helping hand in the past, or a listening ear. Your continued support means so much more than could possibly be articulated.

Step up and donate to Miles for Melanoma today.

Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.

Every step matters and every step counts. Significant advancement has been made in the past few years in improved detection, new drug treatments and better survival rates. This progress has been built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, as well as the existing foundation of melanoma research.

There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
