My "Thank You" Miles for Melanoma Run
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, Ben fractured his tibia and ankle this summer while Brian and I were out of the country. My sister and brother-in-law, Abby and Mike, dropped everything, without being asked, to care for Ben...they made multiple trips back and forth to NH, managed his medical care and appointments, and most importantly showered Ben with love and support. They opened their home to Ben and me for many weeks and helped us more than they could ever know.
What most people do not know is that Abby and Mike did all of this while still managing Abby's health, recovering from a recent surgery to remove another melanoma, scans, doctors' appointments, and new rounds of immunotherapy (and the side effects of these powerful meds).
On Saturday, September 14, 2024, I will run in the Miles to Melanoma 5K to raise money for melanoma research, but I will also run to honor and thank Abby and Mike.
Please consider making a donation to support critical research for melanoma detection, care and treatments. Abby, along with so many others, will benefit from the medical trials and research.
Much Love,
Johanna
The cure for melanoma begins with me.
Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.
Every step matters and every step counts. Significant advancement has been made in the past few years in improved detection, new drug treatments and better survival rates. This progress has been built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, as well as the existing foundation of melanoma research.
There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
Step up and donate to Miles for Melanoma today.
