Welcome to Miles for Ronnie

Melanoma is the most common and deadliest type of cancer in the United States. Every hour of every day one American dies from melanoma; that’s approximately 10,000 per year. Research has shown that patients, not doctors, are most likely to spot melanoma because they are the most familiar with changes on their own skin. Performing thorough self-skin examinations each month and visiting a dermatologist each year can help catch melanoma in its early stages, dramatically increasing survival rates. It takes only one blistering sunburn, especially at a young age, to more than double a person's chance of developing melanoma later in life.
Unfortunately, melanoma continues to touch my life and those of so many around me. As many of you know, my grandfather was diagnosed with melanoma about three years ago. While he fought a courageous fight, he ultimately lost his battle and earned his wings. While his fight with cancer was a critical and impactful time, he did not let it define his life. His strength, courage, and dedication inspired many — including myself. Raising awareness and running in his honor is something I hold very close to my heart. #milesforronnie was created when I participated in my first Miles For Melanoma in 2016 and has grown since then — grown approximately over 220 miles over the last two years.
Catching melanoma early might save the life of someone you love - even you! Join me in the fight against melanoma. Please help me reach my goal and help support and raise funds for the Melanoma Research Foundation. No amount is too small — every dollar counts!
Thank you.
